PSI vs kPa vs Bar
These units measure the same pressure. Convert carefully and stay with the unit printed on your label.
Short answer
PSI, kPa, and bar are different scales for the same physical pressure. Convert the gauge to the unit printed on the door label. Do not treat 240 kPa as 240 PSI, and do not treat 2.4 bar as 24 PSI.
U.S. labels are usually PSI. Many imported cars and European pumps use bar or kPa. Digital gauges hide a unit button in a menu. That button is how people double or starve a tire.
The converter page exists so you can keep the recommended pressure the same while you change the scale. After conversion you still measure and you still inspect damage.
If two tools disagree by a huge amount, check units before you check for a leak.
